New in V1.6 Routine maintenance to fix some issues on certain pages. Don't forget that if you're using Gallery V2, you must right-click the Greasemonkey icon from your status bar and choose 'Add thumbnail tools' from the User Script Commands menu.
Known Issues The toolbox is not ready for v6 yet. This will be looked into when I have time. The thumbnail tools and streams are broken in Firefox 3. This is due to differences in CSS interpretation. I'm looking for a solution that works on both FF2 and 3.
On many occasions I needed to update several deviations at a time - either files, descriptions or keywords. Every time I needed to do this, I needed to open each deviation in a separate tab, then iterate through them, clicking the 'Edit Deviation' button and waiting for the pages to load. And then I realised that it could be easier.
This script adds the following items below gallery thumbnails:
Textbox containing the thumb code for the deviation, or the equivalent print code if the deviation is a print.
Textbox containing a HTML link to the deviation and username code, specifically for adding to deviantART comments and notes.
Link to edit the deviation (if it is yours). This allows you to edit several deviations in tabs.
Link to delete the deviation (if it is yours).
Link to report the deviation as a policy violation (if it is not yours).
The items appear only when you hover over a thumbnail, keeping things extremely minimal.
The toolbox also adds a little 'Edit journal' icon to the top-right corner of your journals, allowing you to instantly update or correct a journal.
The script also adds the name of the deviation you are editing to the page title, so that you can identify the tabs.
Version History
V1.02007-09-29 'Quick Gallery Editor' extension Released with a single Edit button below deviation thumbnails. V1.12007-09-29 Added Delete button and also thumbnail code textbox for easy copying. V1.22007-10-04 Project renamed to 'Gallery Toolbox' because it does a lot more than just editing now. Changed the order of the buttons and included support for DD gallery pages. V1.212007-10-06 Added 'Edit this journal' feature to allow you to instantly edit a journal that you see on your front page or journal pages. V1.32007-10-11 Added 'Link to deviation' textbox. Thumbs and links now work on all gallery pages - not just your own. V1.312007-10-14 Added :shop: thumbnails codes to print thumbnails on wishlists and users' prints pages. Idea suggested by ~Taijutsu-Kunoichi. V1.322007-10-15 Bug fix: gallery toolbox will no longer appear on the deviantART front page, as it displaces the thumbnails. V1.332007-10-16 Bug fix: significant change to the toolbar positioning, meaning it will no longer displace thumbnails. V1.42008-01-07 Report policy violations from anywhere, when the deviation is not your own. V1.52008-01-08 Added Greasemonkey menu command to manually activate thumbnail tools, for use with Gallery 2. V1.62008-05-28 Some minor fixes.
This makes more sense.
I find it odd sometimes that dA lacks certain basic features that make if difficult to manage one's gallery, such as being unable to mass-delete deviations, irritatingly asking you why you are deleting a deviation, and toggling on/off download for deviations in Deviation Management.
And I do find it ludicrous that I can't cycle to my older deviations in my deviantWATCH.
I should be ranting this is the forums, not here.
Basically, this is a very good idea, and would be a step closer to a convenient, hassle-free dA.
Yes, the Deviation Management tool could certainly be more useful. Deleting multiple files would be an easy one for starters. I suppose only a small percentage of deviants would ever need to edit many deviations at the same time on a regular basis, which is why the feature doesn't already exist. I bet there must be a script like this out there already, but I didn't find it.
Great idea, but if you don't mind me asking, how do you... install this? I downloaded GreaseMonkey for the first time, and I've never used it before, so... Yeah. Sorry for my stupidity.
No problem. First, after you've installed GreaseMonkey, close and restart Firefox, then click the install link which takes you to the script itself. GM should show a popup dialog asking you if you want to load the script, and then away you go!
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
